Drywall Repair around Zephyrhills
Most of the drywall calls around here come in two seasons. Summer, when afternoon storms roll through almost every day from late May into early October and a small roof or AC leak shows up as a stain on the ceiling. And spring, when folks are getting a house ready to sell or rent and want the dings and anchor holes gone.
A lot of homes in Zephyrhills and Wesley Chapel have knockdown or orange peel texture on the walls. Matching it is the part people notice, so Wayne takes his sweet time on it instead of leaving a smooth square that stands out.

How Wayne does it
- 1
Find the cause first
If it is a water stain, he checks that the leak is fixed. Patching over a wet spot just brings it back.
- 2
Cut out and patch
Small holes get mesh and mud. Bigger ones get a new piece of drywall with backing behind it.
- 3
Match the texture
Knockdown, orange peel or smooth, matched to the wall around it.
- 4
Prime it
Stain-blocking primer on water spots so they do not bleed back through the paint.

What changes the price
Every job is priced before work starts. These make one drywall repair job bigger or smaller than another.
Size of the damage
A few nail pops take a fraction of the time a fist-size hole or a soft ceiling section does.
Wall or ceiling
Ceilings take longer. Everything is overhead, and water damage there often runs past the stain you can see.
Texture
Smooth walls are quickest. Knockdown and orange peel take extra steps to blend so the patch disappears.
Drying time
Bigger patches need coats of mud to dry between visits, especially in summer humidity, so they may take two short trips.
Materials, and why
Small holes get a self-stick mesh patch and lightweight joint compound. Anything bigger gets a real piece of drywall screwed to wood backing, taped, and finished in coats, the way it should be done, so it does not crack around the edges a year later.
In bathrooms and anywhere that has had a leak, Wayne uses moisture-resistant board and a stain-blocking primer. In a Florida house, that small extra step is the difference between a patch that lasts and a stain that comes back by the next rainy season.
Before you call
- If it is a ceiling stain, look for a roof, AC or plumbing leak above it first. The stain is the symptom.
- Press gently around the spot. Soft or crumbly drywall means it got wet and needs to be cut out.
- Find any leftover paint from when the house was painted. It makes the touch-up blend better.
- Take a close-up photo with a light shining across the wall. It shows the texture so Wayne can plan the match.
What a visit includes
- Protecting floors and furniture
- Patching, texturing and priming
- Sanding and cleanup
- Touch-up paint if you have it, or a quote to paint the wall
Questions about drywall repair
Can you match my wall texture?
In most cases, yes. Knockdown and orange peel are the most common around here. Send a close-up photo with your request and Wayne will tell you what he sees.
Do you paint the patch too?
He can. If you still have the leftover paint, that is the easiest match. If not, he can touch up the patch or paint the whole wall so it blends.
My ceiling stain came back. Why?
Usually the leak is still there, or the stain was painted without a stain-blocking primer. The leak has to be fixed first. Roof leaks go to a licensed roofer.
